Safety for Infants and Children
Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Never leave a child unattended in a car.
- Parents should wear their seat belts.
- Correctly use an infant car seat in the infant position.
- Be prepared to switch to toddler car seat and position.
- Use an approved toddler car seat correctly (see illustration on page XX).
- Use a rear facing car seat until 2 years of age.
- Use a forward facing car seat until the maximum weight limit.
- Booster seats should be used until a child is 4'9".
- Don't carry a child on a tractor or riding mower.
- A child over 13 years of age may sit in the front seat.
- Do not buy motorized vehicles for the child.
